17 on 17th
Living as a 17-year-old teenager with lots of worries and questions in a growing phase has made me hear a lot of different perspectives and encouragements from people I adore. I'm grateful to be surrounded by a lot of supportive and great people. I also gained some points through my hardships or just a realization.
Here are 17 things I learn in my 17th,
1. I deserve a break, and I should rest
This was taught thousand times by my friend that has seen me being productive, at least that's what I know. But I was being over-productive according to them. So I think it's a must to have a break and rest. Remember, time doesn't wait for you, but it doesn't chase you either.
-
2. Have no expectation
Now I know that having no expectations is one of the keys to happiness. I should be living up to my own expectations, instead of expecting from anyone.
-
3. If my understandings are right, other people are not necessarily wrong
Everyone has their own perspective, and it is correct as well.
-
4. Be grateful
Be grateful in everything, even at your lowest. There will always be something to be grateful for.
-
5. The only people who will be with you is yourself, so be good to yourself
I know that I will not live alone, I will have my family and friends. But, sooner or later It's time to jump and live in the real world and maybe I will be alone. I will only have myself, so I need to be a best friend to myself. So do you!
-
6. Even if I am changing, I'm still Edelyn
Actually, this was taught by someone years ago. This sentence always calm me down whenever I feel like I'm changing, and don't recognize myself. Even Though I am changing into a better person. Thanks to you, someone from the past.
-
7. I can't please everyone
I will never be enough for everyone.
-
8. It's hard to click with someone
It's not easy to be comfortable with someone, to share a lot of things, and to be accepted.
-
9. Live a life you won't regret
This has been my principle of life, live a life I won't regret.
-
10. Focus on your own path
Every person has their own path and talent, and I should focus on mine.
-
11. Focus on what you can change, surrender what you can't
This was taught by a great friend of mine, when I was lost and just didn't know what to do. God has His own plan, so I should follow and focus on what I can do.
-
12. Take the decision with the least regret
When we are facing options, no matter what we chose, there will be something that can be regretful. So, what we can do is choose the option with the least regret.
-
13. Your greatest competitor is yourself
Compete to be a better person than yesterday, not with others.
-
14. My family will always have my back
My family will always be the warmest home.
-
15. I have my own limits
I may not be as strong as others, I may not be facing problems as hard as others, but that is my limit. And I shall not be small about it. My feelings are valid.
-
16. Be humble and kind
In everything, be humble and kind.
-
17. Don't be trap by "it's okay"
It's okay to this, It's okay to that. But don't be too comfortable with it and trapped.
